Roofs Facing a Reservoir That Didn't Exist Until 1943
Geist Reservoir filled to capacity for the first time on March 17, 1943, covering roughly 535 acres and 45 former homesteads, including the vanished village of Germantown. Every roof around the reservoir today postdates that flooding by decades — most were built from the 1980s on, as custom shoreline homes replaced the farmland the reservoir originally submerged.
